Ordinary children
My photo project is about the rehabilitation of children with disabilities by using alpine skiing.
Once I saw how a girl who was brought in a wheelchair, went skiing. I thought it was impossible. Unfortunately, many people think so. According to statistics, only a small percentage of families are engaged in the rehabilitation of children with cerebral palsy and other disabilities. The diagnosis is regarded as a sentence and they do not try to improve the child's condition, some even hide them from others. But in fact, these are the same children, only they have to work harder to live a full life. It is important for parents to remember that illness is not a reason to deprive a child of childhood.
"Dream Skis" is a program for the rehabilitation of children with cerebral palsy and other disabilities using alpine skiing. Physically, such classes improve balance and coordination, develop those muscles that children with cerebral palsy usually do not use. Children experience new sensations - a sense of speed, flight, see the world in motion. They get what was not available and feel equal with everyone and enjoy life. And most importantly, children and their parents get hope.
